Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja
Shani Dosh Nivaran Puja is a vital Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Shani (the personification of the planet Saturn). In Vedic astrology, Saturn is known as the ultimate judge of karma. This puja is specially performed to pacify Lord Shani's strict energy, minimize structural hardships, and seek protection from the severe trials of Sade Sati, Dhaiya, or an afflicted Saturn position in a natal birth chart.
Lord Shani is often depicted riding a crow or a golden chariot, holding weapons like a bow, arrow, and mace, symbolizing his role as the cosmic dispenser of justice and discipline. He enforces the fruits of our past deeds through patience, delay, hard work, and restriction.

3. Abhishek & Shani Yantra Puja
An idol of Lord Shani or a Shani Yantra is established on a black or dark blue cloth.
Oil Abhishek: The deity is ceremonially bathed with Mustard Oil or Sesame Oil, which is highly sacred to Shani Dev.
Offerings of black sesame seeds (Kaale Til), blue flowers, charcoal, black gram (Urad Dal), and iron nails are placed at his feet.
4. Core Shani Mantra Japa
Priests chant the Vedic, Puranic, or Beej mantras of Saturn. Depending on the severity of the dosha, the mantra is chanted a specific number of times (typically 19,000 repetitions):

5. Shani Havan (Sacred Fire Ritual)
A holy fire is kindled using wood from the Shami tree.
Offerings of black sesame, ghee, and special herbs are offered to the flames with each mantra recitation to disperse the pacifying energies into the environment.
6. Shani Daana (Charitable Offerings) & Aarti
The puja concludes with a traditional aarti.
Karmic Balancing (Daana): To truly satisfy Saturn, the devotee is advised to donate dark-colored clothes, blankets, mustard oil, or food to workers, cleaners, or the underprivileged immediately following the ritual.
