Participate online from anywhere in the world with live puja arrangements and personalized Sankalp.
A Birthday Puja is a traditional Vedic ceremony performed on your birth date to express gratitude to the Divine and seek blessings for the coming year. It is considered highly auspicious to perform this puja on your Janma Tithi (birth lunar day) or birthday, as it helps remove negative planetary influences, strengthens positive energies, and invites peace, prosperity, and success.
Our expert Vedic Pandits perform the puja according to authentic Vedic traditions using sacred mantras, havan (fire ritual), and personalized Sankalp in your name and Gotra. The ceremony invokes the blessings of Lord Ganesha, Navagraha, family deities, and other divine energies for protection, good fortune, and spiritual growth.
Whether the puja is for a child, adult, or senior family member, it creates a spiritually uplifting beginning to a new year of life. Devotees can join the ceremony online through live video and receive blessings from the comfort of their home.

1. Pre-Puja Preparations (Shuddhi)
Morning Cleansing: The individual celebrating their birthday should wake up early (during Brahma Muhurat if possible), take a head bath, and put on clean, fresh clothes (preferably new clothes in auspicious colors like yellow, pink, or white; avoid black).
Parental Blessings: It is an essential tradition to first seek the blessings of one's parents and elders by touching their feet before starting any rituals.
Altar Preparation: Clean the home temple or designated puja corner. Set up a wooden platform (Chowki), cover it with a fresh red or yellow cloth, and install the idols of your Ishta Devata (family/favorite deity).
2. Initial Invocations & Sankalp
Lighting the Lamp: Light a diya using pure cow ghee or sesame oil. Light incense sticks to purify the surrounding air.
Ganpati Puja: The ritual opens with prayers to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Offer fresh flowers, a piece of jaggery or a laddu, and vermilion to his idol.
Sankalp (The Sacred Intention): The birthday individual (or a priest) holds a little water, fresh flowers, and turmeric-infused rice grains (Akshat) in the right hand. The priest recites your name, birth star (Nakshatra), moon sign (Rashi), and family lineage (Gotra). You mentally state your intention: praying for excellent physical health, peace of mind, success in your studies or career, and protection from negative influences in the upcoming year. Let the water drop onto the ground to seal your vow.
3. Core Birthday Rituals
Panchamrit Abhishek: If you have a small metal idol of your family deity or Bal Krishna, perform a gentle bath using milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar, followed by fresh water. Wipe the idol clean and place it back on the altar.
Markandeya & Chiranjivi Puja: Prayers are offered to Sage Markandeya (the symbol of immortal youth and health) and the Chiranjivis (the seven immortal beings of Vedic tradition, such as Lord Hanuman and King Bali) to draw their life-sustaining energies.
Mantra Chanting: Recite the Ayush Mantra or the Maha Mrityunjay Mantra at least 11 or 108 times to create a protective spiritual shield (Kavach) around your health for the year.
4. The Deepa Prajvalan (The Vedic Alternative to Blowing Candles)
The Tradition: In Vedic culture, blowing out a lamp or candle is considered inauspicious as it symbolizes extinguishing light/life.
The Procedure: Instead of blowing out candles, a special birthday lamp consisting of multiple cotton wicks or small clay diyas is lit. This symbolizes expanding your inner light, knowledge, and life span.
5. Bhog Offering & Aarti
Naivedya (Sacred Food): Offer freshly prepared homemade sweets (like rice kheer, ladoos, or halwa) along with seasonal fruits to the deity.
Aarti: Stand up and perform the Aarti of your main deity using a camphor or ghee lamp.
Tilak and Raksha Sutra: The priest or an elder applies a protective vermilion/sandalwood mark (Tilak) on the birthday individual's forehead and ties a holy red thread (Kalava) around the right wrist for protection.
6. Charity & Conclusion
Seva (Donation): To complete the positive karma cycle of the birthday, it is highly recommended to donate food, clothes, or books to the needy, or offer green grass to a cow (Gau Seva) on this day.
Prasad: Consume the blessed sweet offering and distribute it among friends and family members.
