Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut Puja, commemorates the divine act of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Hill to protect the people of Vrindavan from torrential rains caused by Lord Indra. The festival teaches the importance of humility, devotion, and respect for nature.
On this auspicious day, devotees prepare a grand offering of various food items known as Annakut (mountain of food) and offer it to Lord Krishna and Govardhan Hill. The puja is performed to express gratitude for nature's abundance and to seek blessings for prosperity, protection, good health, and spiritual growth. It is widely celebrated in homes, temples, and especially in Vaishnava traditions with devotion and joy.
